World’s Worst Blogger

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

I am quite possibly the world’s worst blogger. My only excuse is that I’m too busy knitting to work on my blog…….

Here’s the latest: (sorry for the yucky photos, the camera is on the fritz)

The kid’s mittens are done. The whole idea of this project was to pull off green, purple, and orange in the same project. I think it works…

I made these slipper socks for Adam.

I blocked the lace shawl and have gotten those wonderful “You MADE that?!” sort of compliments.

The project brought me near to tears twice, but it was worth it. I have some more lace yarn (a gift from my mother-in-law) waiting in the wings now….

This is my current project:

I bought the yarn because I never buy novelty yarn and certainly not in these colors! I’m designing it as I go with a little help from Ann Budd for the set in sleeves (how did I ever knit before her books were published???)

I only have one project on needles which is making feel nervous. What if I finish this project???? What will happen then?? Luckily I have yarn coming from Webs as we speak. It’s lopi (one of my favorites) for a sweater for my mother. She’s only been dropping hints for the past 4 months about how handmade sweaters make very nice Christmas presents. I’m doing a cardigan from the Best of Lopi book. It involves steeking! There will definitely be more blogging when I get to that stage of the project. According to Elizabeth Zimmerman, the last step of steeking is finding a quiet place to lie down for a few minutes…..
