Quilting
Sunday, March 25th, 2007I haven’t posted in quite some time. I started taking a quilting class about 2 months ago and it has absorbed all of my crafting energy. The class is on hand piecing and was advertised as 6 weeks, Thursdays. Strangely when I signed up for the class I thought that meant six consecutive weeks, but the teacher the first day of class told us that she travels to quilt shows all over the country and is generally out of town for several weeks at a time. So my 6-week class that started in February will end the beginning of May! It’s a good thing I don’t have a very busy social life…..
On a more important note, I am LOVING the class. I didn’t think I was going to like hand piecing (I did after all just discover the joys of my sewing maching), but it’s turning out to be every bit as relaxing and meditative as knitting. Plus picking out fabric is so much fun. I can stand in a the fabric shop for hours holding up bolts of fabric. Our class project is a 36″ wall hanging. We’re just starting to sew blocks together, and hopefully I’ll have pictures by the end of the week.
In the meantime, I’ve made myself another skirt and finished a little hand weaving project (more on that later).
