Quilt project and my first shirt
Sunday, April 15th, 2007Here’s a not-so-great photo of my quilting project. As I started to piece the blocks together it occurred to me that there was no way the project was going to be 36″ as advertised in the class listing. So I did the quick math, and sure enough it’s a 56″ square wall hanging. What you see is about 34″ square. I need to have the rest done for the first week of May.
I think what I’m really enjoying about quilting is the visual effect. When I’m working on the project in my hands I see the individual bits of fabric, the colors and the individual prints, and then when I take a step back and look at it from a distance there is something else entirely. It’s so much fun.
Below is the fabric that I got for my first shirt. I bought a pattern for a cute little wrap-around kimono top. Marika helped me pick the fabric out yesterday at Winmill Fabrics downtown. I never would have picked this out myself, which is why I always bring friends along when buying fabric for clothing.
